BRSCC North Western at Oulton Park
30th July saw our long awaited return to the International circuit at Oulton Park, the weather was very kind to us and a good crowd watched an excellent days racing, The action from some very big grids and the heat of the day showed how well trained our marshals are, dealing with five car fires and plenty of incidents which I'm glad to say everyone got out without any injuries. Formula Ford 1600 put on four superb races with the second Post 89 race finishing first and second just over a tenth of second a part, Sakers which is growing this year added some high speed racing and allowing some very powerful Porsches and other cars to there 3 races also kept us guessing the winners right up to the chequered flag. Euro Sports Saloons made its one visit this year to the North West and the Alfa's completed the list. Below links to full results, an excellent report on the event and over the next couple of weeks plenty of pictures from the day.

BRSCC North Western at Oulton Park
18th June saw a wet start for the Formula Ford 1600, Mazda's and Porsche's, but with some superb grids the day had something for everyone who braved the weather. Our thanks to all the marshals, officials and Oulton Park staff who worked so hard moving the vast amount of cars that needed recovering from the event and the tremendous work done dealing with the barrier repairs throughout the day and still amazingly ensured that all the races were completed before curfew.

Changes at Oulton Park for 2011 Season
Of interest to both Marshalls and Drivers communities are the changes made to the circuit.  These include;
  1. The installation of cameras around the circuit allowing the race to be monitored from race control
  2. New kerbs at the entrance to both Foulstons & Knickerbrook chicanes
  3. The barrier being moved back between Clay Hill & Water Tower creating a much larger run off area
  4. Splitting the assembly area to pit lane route in two, with separate gates for entry & exit
  5. New spectator banking being installed behind the fence at lodge

------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike Mullins has very kindly sent me a summary of the changes that have been made at Oulton Park over the winter - to be circulated to you all.  The changes are as follows:

New kerbs at the entrance to Foulstons (Brittens) and Knicker Brook. These replace the tyres and are high and aggressive although Knicker isn't so bad as the start of the kerb follows the Fosters track, so it isn't head on. I'm hoping to get some photos sent of these and will pass them on if I do.

The armco has been moved back on the right hand side between Clay Hill and Water Tower. This was done for the bikes and won't have much affect on us.

The entrance/exit to the circuit from the assembly area has changed. The entrance is slightly narrower and if you exit before the end of a session you don't use the last garage any more but through a new gate just after it. Parc Ferme hasn't changed.

Cameras are being installed at key areas but there are no firm decisions on how these will be used yet.

Warning lights will be installed at various points but
as they are not on the circuit licence they probably won't be used for race meetings until 2012. Likely to be red, yellow and possibly green lights. They will be used for track days, race school etc so possibly also test days?

Ford XR Challenge

Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control that the Anglesey meeting of 14/15 May has been cancelled by the circuit as they are running a three day motorcycle meeting. I have arranged a new date for the cancelled racing and this will also to be at Anglesey on Sunday 22 May. This event will see the Ford XR Challenge being the headline and ONLY racing at the track as it will form part of the Ford RS Owners’ Club track day. The meeting will be run under race regulations overseen by the BRSCC. The one day will feature just a double header and not triple as I had planned. I am sorry that our original plan has had to be altered.

The series of races to be styled as the Champion of Anglesey will now be formed over 8 races and not 9. The champion will be the driver who amasses the most points at Anglesey and in the case of a tie, then count back on the highest number of 1st, or 2nd, or 3rds etc. A prestigious Cup and prizes will be awarded the champion at the last event on 25th September.

Kind regards
