The BRSCC’s North Western Centre’s first meeting of 2026 at Anglesey Circuit was a cracker. It featured 2 Fun Cup races, with history being made in one of them, and sprint races that were packed with thrilling action.
Fun Cup Endurance Championship

Facts you never knew! The race numbers on Fun Cup cars correspond to their chassis numbers rather than being allocated to drivers and it is the chassis numbers which score championship points. Following the disqualification of the UVio/Hofmann’s Car No 225 from the previous round’s results at Snetterton, drivers Farquini and Fabulous Randaccio came up with a novel way to move up the championship table. For Anglesey, they switched to PLR Racing’s Car No 403 and put their UVio/Hofmann’s stickers on this predominantly white machine while PLR Racing drivers Neil Plimmer and Timothy Wheeldon took over the black and gold Car No 225.
The change brought Farquini and Fabulous good fortune at Trac Mon as the random grid draw put them on the front row for the lunch time 3 hour encounter. They went on to take a dominant victory despite a close encounter with a car they were lapping causing an off-track excursion that ripped off their front splitter towards the end of the second hour.
That front row start was a factor in history being made because Farquini and Fabulous were the first team to lead every lap of a Fun Cup race!
In the closing stages, VapeClub Morpheus (Ted Bradbury/Vlad Vassilev) were gaining on Rob Boston Racing with Rare Vinyl (Will Blackwell-Chambers/Tom Roche) however there was no grandstand finish as the latter car ground to a halt between Rocket and Peel. This triggered the only Safety Car period of the 3 hours.
Sheradize UK (Peter Belshaw/Matthew Hyde) completed the podium.
Reigning champions, Team GRD (Chris Dovell, Riley Phillips and Simon Rudd) had seen the chequered flag first in the opening 2 rounds of the season but this time they were delayed after contact with another car and were classified eleventh.
For the “Into the Evening” race, the UVio/Hofmann’s car had to start from the back of the grid having won earlier in the day while Team GRD were drawn just a few places ahead of them but they still managed to finish first and second. With Team GRD resuming their winning ways having taken the lead from VapeClub Morpheus with 45 minutes of the 3 hours remaining.
The VapeClub Morpheus car had damaged suspension and only yielded the runner-up position to UVio/Hofmann’s when Ted Bradbury ran wide at the Bus Stop with 2 minutes remaining. They had put up a valiant defence for a number of laps.
JMRG Caterham Graduates Championship – Sigma 150

Stephen Clark had a brilliant start to the first encounter for the Sigma 150 Class of the JMRG Caterham Graduates. He took the lead from third on the grid. Pole-sitter, William Van Es, put him under tremendous pressure before managing to draft past down the back straight with around 4 minutes of the 20 remaining. Van Es didn’t notice when the Last Lap board was shown and rued not defending more rigorously when Clark out-braked him into Rocket to take the win.
William Briant had a dreadful start from the outside of the front row but fought back to claim third.
Clark and Van Es renewed their battle in the early stages of race 2. There was plenty of place swapping until, eventually, they started to work together to pull away from third placed Briant. In the closing stages, Clark dropped back with a serious handling issue allowing Van Es to open a 6 second gap at the finish.
Van Es took the final set of laurels. Since race 2, Clark and his team had performed some welding to the rear of his car after his problems earlier. However, this made his chassis very stiff and there was no way he could keep up with Van Es. He managed to take the flag in second after a great deal of place swapping with Briant.
JMRG Caterham Graduates Championship – Sigma 135
Jamie Ellwood made the early running in race 1 for the Sigma 135 class of the Caterham Graduates but in the second half of the contest, James Hapgood and Steve Merritt caught him. There was then an epic three-way dice for the lead which held them all up so that they were caught by Ben Winrow and Giles Derry. Winrow demoted Merritt to claim third as Ellwood took the flag just ahead of Hapgood.
Next time out, there was an early red flag when a car spun and was collected by another competitor. When the contest got underway again, there was an excellent dice for the lead between Ellwood and Merritt with Hapgood and Winrow close behind. Unfortunately, there was no thrilling final lap as the red flags appeared again few minutes before the scheduled climax due to a stranded car on the approach to Rocket.
For the final encounter, Ellwood pulled away to take a comfortable victory from the battling Hapgood and Merritt. The latter dropped back when his tyres went off and he was nearly caught by the pack.
Fiesta Junior Championship

A multi-car incident at Rocket brought out the red flags the first time the Fiesta Junior runners took to the tarmac. Then, on the first lap after the restart, there was another coming together which left a car stranded in the middle of the track with bent suspension. This meant the second and final lap was run behind the Safety Car.
Dara McInerney took the win from Bobby Holmes and Oscar Homerstone.
It was a similar story in race 2 when McInerney won after a re-start due to an incident at The Banking. Holmes locked up and went straight on at the same corner on the last lap dropping down from second place to an eighth placed finish. This meant this season’s scholarship driver, Daniel Takyi, was runner-up. The battle for third went all the way to the line with Jenson Pritchard taking the position as a quartet of cars took the flag in little more than half a second.
McInerney completed his hat-trick the final time the Fiesta Junior’s took to the tarmac. His quest was aided when Takyi spun out of second place at Church and delayed Pritchard in the process. This meant Lewis Islin was the runner-up. Having started the earlier race 2 from twentieth on the grid, Barnaby Brewer was “ecstatic” after he moved up to third when Holmes and Homerstone had a coming together at the Bus Stop.
Airtec Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship

The opening Airtec Motorsport Fiesta ST240 encounter saw Alastair Kellett add to his ever-growing tally of victories as Gary Miller successfully defended second from George Foxlow.
Kellett took the lead at the start of race 2 but on the second lap at Rockett he ran wide. By the time he returned to his intended line, Foxlow was alongside him. They continued wheel-to-wheel all the way to Seamans Corner where Foxlow moved ahead. He then maintained a narrow advantage until the finish. Jack Sant completed the podium on this occasion.
The grid for the third contest of the weekend reversed the Top Ten finishers in race 2. Fresh tyres transformed Miller’s car compared to how it was in the second encounter and he took the win. The opening couple of laps were chaotic, not least when Brady Pollock had a very sideways moment at the first corner. Graeme Colfer picked his way through the mayhem from thirteenth on the grid to finish second with Kellett third.
PBS Brakes SuperSport Endurance Cup

As he had done at our last meeting at Oulton Park on 9th May, David May took a dominant victory behind the wheel of his Ginetta in the SuperSport Endurance Cup finish a couple of laps ahead of Lee Collins in his Caterham 310R.
Thank you Marshals!
The BRSCC’s North Western Centre would like to thank all the marshals and officials who enabled this event to take place. We had some quite serious incidents but they were dealt with impeccably.
We hope all our volunteers enjoyed an exciting weekend of racing!
